Beneficial And Harmful Effects Of Playing Video Games

Are video games harmful? Many people argue they are. Others argue they aren’t. Which side is correct? It all depends. One, video game addiction is a serious problem. China even passed a law to limit gaming time for children younger than 18 years old. However, video gaming can be used to relax, stimulate the brain, and even help one’s reflexes. People who don’t become addicted to video gaming can manage their time well enough that it doesn’t interfere with their day.

There are many negative effects that video games can have on players, but there are also some positives. Video games allow you to build relationships with family and friends that are unlike any other. You can also use them to temporarily escape the daily grind. Video games offer a wealth of benefits if used in a healthy and positive manner. There have been many discoveries about how video games can be used to positively impact education. Any idea has potential. Video games can also improve hand-eye coordination and peripheral vision. To win, video games require quick thinking, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Many games, including puzzles and strategy ones, can help you think faster and solve problems more effectively. Playing videogames can help reduce stress and increase violence prevention (cathartic Therapy). The Supreme Court ruled in Brown vs. Entertainment Merchants Association that videogame violence was not associated with increased aggression. Justice Antonin Scalia claimed that studies linking violence in videogames and aggression have been rejected by every court.

Nearly all teenage men play violent videogames. This fact is frequently used in anti-videogame arguments. It is important to not make casually the fact that “gamers”, as they are commonly called, can go on to commit violent crime. It’s like saying that “nearly all who robbed a Bank have eaten ice cream”, but this is not surprising. However, it can become confusing and false when it is misused.

After a long work day, there are days that I just need to unwind or switch off. There are a few hobbies I can turn to when I need that solution. This relaxation method leaves me feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle new challenges. It allows you to leave behind all your worries for just a few moments and then get back to them when you are ready. Video games are a great way to bond with your brothers. It’s been a great way to bond with your brothers, whether you are playing or talking about it. It can be very good for everyone, provided that it is used in moderation. It can provide a great creative outlet for those who need to unwind or bond with their cousins.

You would see that nearly ninety-seven per cent of American children have played video games at some point in their lives. Studies have shown that video games can encourage violence, such as shooting, hand-to-hand combat, and swordplay. Many believe the link between violence in video games and aggression is flawed. But, how can that be true when most parents, psychologists, pediatricians, and other professionals agree? So, how can this theory be considered true, and video games actually be beneficial? They aren’t, it is obvious. Violent videogames increase the likelihood of desensitization. It may be less impactful for the player if violence becomes more commonplace. It is possible to decrease empathy due to desensitization. This could be directly linked with aggressive behavior.

Gamers are prone to addiction. It’s all too easy for gamers to get so excited about playing that they only have time to do it for one hour. Then suddenly, six hours pass. Many people have experienced video games completely consuming their lives. My brother lost almost a whole year to this addiction. He was always playing, all day. He didn’t stop for long and would only stop when necessary. It began as an innocent game, to relieve stress and eventually spiraled down into depression. He was able escape it in time, but his life was not destroyed. Some people use video games to provide comfort. However, they can find themselves in an empty and dark place that is difficult to heal by making a simple, but hard, choice. Video games can increase aggression and ruin lives. They are not beneficial.

Although I was aware of many anti-video game arguments and was pro-video games when I began this paper, it was a strong position. Surprisingly however, my opinions changed little once I started to read a bit more on the subject. Both sides have their strengths and weaknesses, as well as numerous statistical and research data. Video games can be dangerous if they are not used correctly. Although it’s easy to get addicted, there are many benefits to using video games in moderation.
